What Is Scorecast Betting?

One type of football wager which betting sites love is a scorecast bet.  Why?  Because scorecast bets are very hard to win!  A scorecast bet is essentially two bets combined into one, making it a form of accumulator.  You are betting on which player will score the first goal in the match (a First Goal Scorer bet, abbreviated FGS).  But that is only half the equation.  You are also betting on what the result of the match will be.  In order to count, both bets need to be on the same match.  You cannot place an FGS bet on one match and a score match on the other and call it a scorecast bet. 

Amateur bettors love scorecast bets, for the simple reason that they are very exciting and promise high returns if they should happen to win.  The long odds can translate into massive winnings if you should actually get both your wagers right.  Oftentimes, online betting sites will offer you partial refunds if these bets go south, in order to make them appear more attractive to punters. 

There are of course some serious drawbacks.  Every goalless draw will cause you to lose your entire bet, for one.  And if you are correct about the first goal scorer but wrong about the match score, you lose the entire accumulator bet.  If you had only bet on the FGS, you would have won.  There are few things more painful than watching money go down the drain that you could have claimed.  The chances of winning a scorecast bet are quite low all around.  It is easy to blow through a betting account chasing after elusive winnings in this manner.

What situations are best for scorecast bets?  If you are going to place one of these wagers, you should do so only when you have very exacting knowledge about the teams and players who will be taking part in the match.  If you are quite sure you know which player will score first and you are confident about the score, go for it.  Low-scoring games are often easier to predict, and make a great choice for a scorecast bet.  How do you know a game will be low scoring?  One great indication is when you have two highly defensive teams meeting on the field.  Both will have a hard time scoring.

You also may want to decide whether to participate based on the promotions you see.  While some online betting sites may only offer you a partial refund if you lose, some will offer you a full refund under specific circumstances.  If for example the player you selected as the FGS scores the last goal in the match, you will receive a full refund. 

Before you start placing scorecast bets, it is a good idea to practice each component first until you are sure your strategies work.  Do a number of FGS bets without the score component, and try betting on the score of the match without worrying about the FGS.  Once you have great strategies in place for both, hunt for opportunities where you specifically have a very real shot at winning a scorecast bet.  If you are not looking at a match with an obvious scorer and a likely low score, it is best to pass it over until there is a better opportunity.
