Types of Boxing Bets

• Winner bets:  These are the simplest and most straightforward bets in the world of boxing.  You simply try to pick the winner of the fight.  When there is a very clear favourite, this is almost too easy, and typically does not pay out very well.  In a closer match, you will get better odds.

• Method of Victory:  Are you very familiar with the fighting styles of the opponents and the types of victories they typically win?  If so, you may be able to get an amazing value by wagering on not only who will win a match, but also how they will win.  You can bet on a knockout, stoppage, a technical decision, disqualification, and more.  This type of bet is very popular, both because it is fun and because it can have a far better payout value than simply betting on the winner.  Your specialised knowledge that comes from actually watching the matches will really come into play here.  This is something you really cannot pick up just from reading about it.

• Will The Fight Go The Distance?:  This type of bet allows you to wager on whether ends early or actually goes through all the rounds.  The odds you get will depend largely on how evenly matched the opponents are, and whether they tend to win through points or knockout.

• Gone In 60 Seconds:  This type of bet is mostly there to amuse casual gamblers looking for a thrill.  Serious pros rarely bet on this, because even when there is a very clear favourite, it is very unlikely that he will win within the first minute of the first round.  If you do happen to win this type of bet, though, you can get a massive payout.

As you can see, there are a lot of fun opportunities to use your knowledge of boxing to make some money.  Watching boxing is already a thrill, but you can make it even more personal by placing a wager.  If you have never bet on boxing before, start with some simple winner bets, and then try some of the other more complicated and challenging types of bets when you start feeling more confident.  Watch matches as often as you can.  This is a sport where actually witnessing the action can make a huge difference in how you bet and whether or not you win.
