Royal Ascot 2017 Dress Code Update
If you are going to be attending Royal Ascot Horse Racing festival 2017 in person, there is some great news - the dress code has been updated, and now permits jumpsuits.
If you are new to Royal Ascot, you may not be aware that there is a strict dress code. The exact dress code you must adhere to depends on the enclosure you have selected:
- Royal Enclosure: Ladies should wear modest dresses, skirts, tops, and jackets. Pantsuits are allowed, and this year jumpsuits are as well. A hat or headpiece is a requirement. Men should wear a waistcoat and tie, a black or grey top hat, and a pair of black shoes. The Royal Enclosure dress code is the most formal.
- Queen Anne Enclosure and Village Enclosure: This is a slightly more casual dress code than the one above. Ladies should wear modest dresses or skirts (nothing strapless). Both trousers and jumpsuits are appropriate, but shorts are not acceptable. Men should wear a matching suit with a shirt and tie.
- Windsor Enclosure: This is the only enclosure which has a really loose dress code. You are encouraged to wear “smart clothes.” The only formal requirement is that you steer clear of replica sports shirts.
As to the jumpsuits, Juliet Slot, Commercial Director at Ascot, released the following statement:
"The inclusion of jumpsuits as part of the Royal Enclosure dress code recognises our customers' fashion-forward taste and reflects our awareness of seasonal trends."
The only special requirement with the jumpsuits is that they fall full length down to the ankle.
