Royal Ascot News Round-Up no1 2015
Looking forward to betting on the Royal Ascot 2015 in a few weeks? The Royal Ascot is one of the biggest events in horseracing not only in the UK, but around the world. Each year, the best of the best compete in a series of exciting stakes at one of the most elegant sporting events in existence. If you plan to bet, now is the time to start following along with other horseracing events. That way you can learn more about the key contenders and choose amongst the best horse racing betting sites. Here is a quick round-up of the latest news related to the event!
- Gleneagles just rode to victory in the Irish 2,000 Guineas at the Curragh, with Ryan Moore as the jockey. The colt was trained by Aidan O’Brien, and has now earned the right to race at the Royal Ascot, most likely in the St. James’s Palace Stakes.
- Meanwhile, Sole Power, the sprinter trained by Eddie Lynam, did poorly at the Curragh’s Greenland Stakes, pulling in sixth behind Mustajeeb. Nonetheless, Sole Power will race in the Royal Ascot at the King’s Stand Stakes. Lynam is unconcerned by the recent loss, stating that Sole Power is none the worse for wear: “He came out of the race great, no problem, and will go for the King’s Stand now … He’s in very good form and we’re keen to go.”
- Peter Niven has stated that the seven-year-old Clever Cookie will only go to Royal Ascot if the ground conditions are favourable. Clever Cookie ran to victory at York on Saturday. Will Clever Cookie attend the Ascot or not? We will have to wait and see.
- Richard Pankhurst, the three-year-old trained by John Gosden, was set to return to the St. James’s Palace Stakes this year, but as it turns out, it isn’t going to happen. In fact, he was also set to run in the 2,000 Guineas, but had to miss that event as well owing to a problem with his hind quarter. Richard Pankhurst has not won a race since last June’s Chesham Stakes at the Royal Ascot. Pankhurst’s handler has stated that they hope he will be back on track by the second half of the season.
- War Department, the son of Frozen Power, will also be heading to Royal Ascot to compete. Recently, War Department achieved an impressive and somewhat surprising victory at the recent Maiden Stakes after turning everything around in the final six furlongs. His trainer stated, “I haven’t been training him, he’s a breeze-up horse … He was great today and you couldn’t fail to be impressed, so we can dream a bit. It (Royal Ascot) is the greatest meeting in the world and Bill Gredley (part-owner) is 82. He wants to dream, and if the horse is well, we will be there.”
Those are some of the contenders you will want to keep an eye on this year at Royal Ascot. Be sure to check the betting odds before you head to the racecourse, and continue to watch the news closely over the coming weeks. The more you learn about these horses, their jockeys, and their trainers, the better prepared you will be to make intelligent and profitable bets when it comes time to watch the Royal Ascot races!
