Just how crowded is Royal Ascot every year?

- 293,303 people attended Royal Ascot in person last year. If you are curious what the year-over-year increase was, 285,831 people attended in 2014.
- To feed all these people, 330 chefs were hired to staff 12 different restaurants and 214 private boxes.
- Race-goers consumed in total: 5,000 kilos of salmon, 2,400 kilos of beef sirloin, 7,000 crabs, 3,700 English lamb rumps, and 10,000 Angus steaks. So much bread was eaten that if you stacked all the loaves on top of one another, their combined height would eclipse that of the BT Tower.
- What about beverages? In 2015, Royal Ascot attendees enjoyed 51,000 bottles of champagne, 42,000 bottles of wine, 160,000 glasses of Pimms, 89,000 bottles of mineral water, and 131,000 pints of beer.
- What about afternoon tea? 45,000 guests managed to chow down on 30,000 chocolate éclairs, 1,000 kilos of clotted cream, 50,000 macaroons, and 7,000 punnets of berries.
- Roughly 600 limousines and 400 helicopters arrive at Royal Ascot with race-goers every year.
- It took around 2,400 cleaning personnel working 24 hours a day to maintain the toilet facilities at Royal Ascot last year.
- In 2015, 25,000 people signed into Royal Ascot’s free wi-fi. The #RoyalAscot hashtag on Twitter was used 30,000 times. The official Facebook page tallied up more than 5.5 million check-ins, likes and posts.
