Do You Really Ever “Start Over” in Sports Betting? Part 2
In Part 1 of this series, I talked about one of the most despair-inducing experiences you can have while betting on sports. What experience is that? It is the moment when all of your hard work seems to crumble right in front of your eyes, when the profitable system you fought so hard to build stops generating results.
When that happens, you may feel like you are being forced to go all the way back to the starting line to try again from scratch. While you may only need to adapt your existing system (which can be very challenging in and of itself), you may sometimes be stuck getting a new system.
But I think that in sports betting, there is really no such thing as “starting over.” You can take heart knowing that the skills and knowledge that you have accumulated over the time you have been wagering is on your side now.
Here are a few things you have now that you did not have at the original starting line!
- Comprehensive knowledge of whatever sport or sports you have been following. If you have been following football or cricket or another sport closely for months or years, you can use your in-depth knowledge to help you to identify other potentially profitable betting systems. In the beginning, you probably didn’t have nearly that much knowledge on your side, even if you were a big fan.
- Detailed knowledge on teams and players. Similarly, you now have deep knowledge of specific teams and players. You have followed them far more closely than you did before. That knowledge is going to play to your advantage.
- Your basic knowledge of sports betting and odds. When you first got into sports betting, you probably went through a phase where you felt totally lost. You couldn’t read the odds, and you didn’t know a teaser from a parlay. Now you do, so at least you do not need to reorient yourself.
- Your knowledge of statistics and probabilities. Most of us do not dive into sports betting armed with advanced understanding of probabilities and statistics. But after you have spent some time betting, your mathematical knowledge has had a chance to really grow. You have that on your side as well.
Those are just a few of the advantages you have on your side, and reasons that you never really start completely over as a bettor. Read on to Do You Really Ever “Start Over” in Sports Betting Part 3 for even more encouragement!
