Royal Ascot 2011

The Queen Anne Stakes is part of the Royal Ascot festival and is a one mile race and is a race that has been won by jockeys from abroad four of the last six times. Last years winner and winner of 13 Group 1 races Goldikova is defending its title and it will be very interesting to watch the match up with this years favourite Canford Cliffs

St James's Palace Stakes (Group 1) 1m - 14th of June

The second big race of day 1 at Royal Ascot is St James's Palace Stakes. This race is also one mile distance and statistics show that the favourites usually win. This year Frankel is the big favourite and there is no wonder why the bookies offer such short odds on it. Frankel is ubeaten at the moment, has Aidan O’Brien as a trainer and has recently won in the 2000 Guineas.
 

Prince of Wales's Stakes (Group 1) 1m2f - 15th of June

The Prince of Wales's Stakes is a race with horses aged four years old and over. Something that has be noticed for that race is that no horse that has been trained in the United Kingdom has won since 2006. Horses coming from France have won three times in the last four years. The big favourite on that race is So You Think but attention needs to be paid to the French trained Planteur
 

Gold Cup (Group 1) 2m4f - 16th of June

The Ascot Gold Cup is the most important race of the meeting. It is a very competitive race with seventeen horses competing for victory. The last five years, horses from Ireland have won that race and are looking now for a sixth victory with το Fame And Glory. This race is very hard for predictions but historically ( with the exception of Yates) horses that are more than six years old have less chances for a win.
 

Coronation Stakes (Group 1) 1m - 17th of June

Golden Jubilee Stakes (Group 1) 6f - 18th of June

Golden Jubilee Stakes is the big race of the last day at Royal Ascot. At this race no clear favourite has won since 1996 and is always a very close race. This years favourite Delegator seems to have a better but Star Witness and Bated Breath also look very strong and capable for victory
