Introducing the Queen Anne Enclosure at Royal Ascot 2016
If you are booking tickets for Royal Ascot 2016, you may have noticed some changes in the enclosures. The Royal Enclosure is still the Royal Enclosure, but the Silver Ring and the Grandstand Enclosure are no longer listed. Instead you will see the Windsor Enclosure and the Queen Anne Enclosure respectively. These are actually the exact same enclosures as last year; the only difference is that their names have changed. Ticket prices are also marginally more expensive than they were in 2015.
The Queen Anne Enclosure is what used to be known as the Grandstand Enclosure. You can get tickets for £75 for general admission (versus £34 for the Windsor Enclosure). As the ticket prices indicate, the Queen Anne Enclosure is the slightly more upscale experience. The Windsor Enclosure is casual; the Queen Anne Enclosure has a stricter dress code. You can watch the horses on the Pre-Parade ring before each race. Here, you will also get a great view Royal Procession and can participate in communal singing on the Bandstand lawn following the final race.
Whereas there are only a couple of dining options at the Windsor Enclosure, the Queen Anne Enclosure boasts a number of choices. These include tea at the Grandstand Lawns, the 1768 Kitchen Garden, the Bandstand Restaurant, Bangers & Bubbles, Front Runner Grill, and the Deli. Additionally, there are the Queen Anne Bars and the Wondering Wine Company. If you would like, you can also book a picnic (picnic tables are available for rent as well).
Whichever of the two enclosures you choose (the Royal Enclosure is by invitation only), you will have an amazing experience if you decide to attend Royal Ascot 2016. Many people end up placing a reservation every year after their first. But you should book your tickets soon, because two of the five days are already sold out for both enclosures. The others will be selling out quickly.
If you are unable to book tickets in time for either of the enclosures, what can you do? Royal Ascot 2016 will be broadcast on Channel 4 and will also stream live at many UK betting websites. So long as you are placing even a small wager, most of these sites will give you access to the live stream.
While attending Royal Ascot in person is an unforgettable experience, there are some advantages to staying home and betting online. It is easy to conduct research to handicap the horses from home, and you can bet on your desktop, laptop or mobile device. Betting on your mobile is not actually permitted in the stands at the races. No matter what you decide to do, start learning about the horses, jockeys and riders now. The more you learn leading up to the races, the better positioned you will be to place winning bets on Royal Ascot 2016!
