Cheltenham Festival 2017
We are fast approaching one of the key annual horse racing betting events in the UK. Cheltenham Festival 2017 is happening this week. The format this year is the same as it has been in years past with four days of exciting horse races, each with seven events. Gates open at 10:30 am each day, with the first race scheduled to take place at 1:30 pm.
Here is the schedule for the entire festival:
- Tuesday, March 14th: Champion Day. Cheltenham 2017 launches with the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle, the first race of Champion Day. Other big events include the National Hunt Chase and the Stan James Champion Hurdle Challenge Trophy.
- Wednesday, March 15th: Ladies Day. This is the day to dress up in your best. Watch the BetVictor Queen Mother Champion Steeple Chase, Coral Cup, and other exciting Ladies Day races.
- Thursday, March 16th: St. Patrick’s Day. This is the day to party at the racecourse! Races scheduled for Thursday include the St. Patrick’s Derby charity race, the World Hurdle, the Ryanair Chase and more.
- Friday, March 17th: Cheltenham Gold Cup Day. The final day of Cheltenham 2017 features the Foxhunter Steeple Chase, and of course the Betfred Cheltenham Gold Cup Steeple Chase.
Cheltenham 2017 FAQ
Q: Can I Still Get a Ticket to Cheltenham 2017?
A: Yes, but it is best not to delay. As of the time of this writing, there are still tickets for Champion Day, but two of the enclosures (Tattersalls Grandstand Seating and Guinness Grandstand) have already sold out. This is also the case for Ladies Day. For St. Patrick’s Day, tickets are still available for all the enclosures except the Guinness Grandstand. Gold Cup Day tickets have unfortunately sold out for all enclosures.
Don’t forget to book your parking pass as well for the days you will be attending.
The other reason you are advised to hurry is that the Cheltenham Racecourse traditionally drives up ticket prices in the days leading up to the big event. So the sooner you book, the lower your cost will be to attend.
Q: What if I can’t make it in person?
A: If you have a chance to attend Cheltenham 2017 in person, you shouldn’t miss it. But if you cannot make it to the racecourse, you can still watch all the races either on your telly or online and place wagers on the internet!
You can stream Cheltenham’s races live at most major UK horse racing betting sites including bet365, William Hill and Ladbrokes. At most of these sites, in order to stream, you need to be placing a minimum bet (sometimes as low as £1).
You can also tune into the races this year on ITV, which has taken over horse racing broadcasting from Channel 4. ITV is showing all the major festivals this year, including not just Cheltenham, but also Royal Ascot, the Five Classics, and the Grand National.
