5 New Year’s Resolutions for Sports Bettors
Tired of looking at a low win percentage and dwindling resources in your betting account? Maybe 2016 was a rough year, but in January 2017 will be a new year. You can make it a brighter, more profitable year if you make some smart New Year’s resolutions.
Here are 5 resolutions which can help you take your betting to the next level.
- Start betting with a real, consistent strategy in place. If you currently bet on your gut instinct or you try lots of different strategies but are an expert in none of them, make this the year you choose a betting strategy and stick with it. Become an expert and use consistent rules for entering into wagers and you will finally start seeing the success you want.
- Stop betting emotionally. If you allow emotions like fear, greed, guilt, and even overconfidence or enthusiasm for a team to drive your bets, it is time to set those sentiments aside and start betting based on logic.
- Bet on just one sport. Do you bet on a lot of different sporting events? Make this the year you are going to get focused and become a true expert on one sport, and work on your sports wagering every day and not just on weekends.
- Stop betting real money if you are not ready. There is no reason for you to wager real money on sports unless you know exactly what you are doing and can prove with a real track record of wins on paper that you are ready to go live with real money. Stop draining your account unnecessarily. Resolve to bet on paper until you see a profitable bottom line. You will be glad you did, even if the thought makes you impatient now.
- Figure out what your really want from sports wagering and what you need to do to get to where you are to where you want to be. Ask yourself why you are doing this. Are you betting seriously with the hopes of becoming a pro someday? If so, start formulating realistic expectations about the hard work that will go into that. But if you really are just betting for fun, try and be honest with yourself about that too. There is nothing wrong with that, and once you acknowledge it, you can start having fun again and betting responsibly.
While some of these resolutions may not apply in your particular situation, hopefully one or more are helpful to you in 2017. If not, you can probably think up a few New Year’s resolutions of your own based on your own circumstances. Ask yourself what your biggest problems are and what hurdles you need to overcome, and that will point you in the right direction. Choosing your worst problem to fix or the easiest one to fix are two ideas for getting started. Tackle one thing at a time or a couple things at a time and you will probably have the best results!
