What Are Half Time/Full Time Bets?
If you are looking for a relatively simple wager which can offer you a higher payout than the standard Win-Lose-Draw (WLD) on football betting, you may want to consider a Half Time/Full Time bet, often simply abbreviated as HT/FT. With this type of bet, you are technically making two wagers in one, which is why it is also sometimes called a “double result” bet.
As the name indicates, you are placing a wager on the outcome at half time as well as a wager on the outcome at full time. You do not necessarily need to bet on the same team for both. You could if you wanted, but there are situations where you may not want to. These wagers are popular because they are easy to learn, do not carry a huge amount of risk, can pay off nicely if you know what you are doing and have a good reason to place a wager on a betting site.
Say for example that Manchester United is playing against Fulham. You are quite confident that Manchester is going to wipe the floor with Fulham. Why bet only once when you can bet twice and win a higher payout? If you are confident Manchester will be winning at half time as well as full time, you can place an HT/FT bet on Manchester and claim the higher payout.
Here is another example. Let’s say you were convinced that based on their recent performance, Fulhalm would start strong, but then fall behind in the second half of the match. You expect them to be in the lead at half time, but at full time you expect them to be the losers. In this situation, you could bet on Fulham at half time and Manchester at full time. Your specialised knowledge of Fulham’s performance would result in you winning a higher payout than if you simply bet on Manchester to win.
You can see how HT/FT bets are quite flexible, and may come in handy under vastly different circumstances. With this type of betting, you give yourself a chance to win twice. Just keep in mind that the risk is higher than it would be with a regular bet. Nothing is more disappointing than winning at half time and then losing your entire stake at full time—except maybe losing at half time and realising you could have won at full time with a regular bet! Always remember your HT/FT bets are combined in a single wager, and both components must win for you to receive your payout and not lose your stake. Make use of these wagers when you are confident in both components, and stick with simple WLD wagers when you are unsure.
