Is It Possible to Make a Living Betting on Sports?

If you are new to sports betting, or even if you have been betting for a while, you may wonder whether it is possible to quit your day job someday and wager full-time on the sporting events you love.  You probably have at least heard of full-time gamblers who make a comfortable or even lucrative living off of sports betting, but odds are you probably haven’t encountered too many.  What you have likely run into are many other punters struggling like you to pull it together and start making a profit.

All of this may make you wonder whether it is really possible for someone starting out just like you to make a living betting on sports, or whether you simply are not in the right position to think about it.  After all, if it were really possible, wouldn’t you encounter more success stories?  Maybe those who are making it have some secret you don’t, or a big bankroll to start with that you don’t have access to.

These are actually viable concerns.  It is much easier to make a living at sports betting if you have a big bankroll to start with, since you will be able to begin making larger returns sooner.  And odds are that these few professional gamblers do have knowledge about betting that you don’t, in the form of a betting system that works.

That does not mean you cannot eventually acquire those things, though.  You do need a betting strategy that works consistently in order to win consistently.  You do need to build up your bankroll, but that does not mean you cannot start small.  What that means is that you will need great reserves of patience, more than your rich counterparts have.  Your path to success will be a lot longer, and that is a realistic fact that you need to accept if you want to move forward.

So yes, it is possible to make a living wagering on sports, even if you are starting out small, without a lot of knowledge or tools on your side.  But it will not be easy.  The challenge of it is why so many punters give up before they make it, or before they even get started!  Many others fail because they have no real interest in success.  A lot of your fellow gamblers are betting on sports simply for the fun value, and not because they want to go pro.

If you do, the best thing you can do is start tackling different aspects of your challenge to become a professional bettor in an organised fashion.  Begin systematically searching for and developing strategies.  Test and research all you can.  Talk to professionals and would-be professionals online and offline.  Read books. Try different betting sites. Manage your money with care.  But most importantly, work on developing the discipline and patience you will need to travel the long road to riches.  It may be difficult, but it will be worth it in the end!
