Royal Ascot 2015 Results Part 2
Can you believe the Royal Ascot 2015 is already over? It feels like just yesterday that we waited for it to get started! This year’s event was as exciting as ever, with a lot of surprising twists and turns and unexpected outcomes. Day 3
- Waterloo Bridge won the Norfolk Stakes, followed by Log Out Island and King of Rooks.
- The Tercentenary Stakes was won by favourite Time Test.
- The Ribblesdale Stakes featured Ryan Moore as the winner, followed by Pleascach and Pamona.
- Trip to Paris won the Gold Cup, the big race of the day, followed by Kingfisher and Forgotten Rules.
- War Envy won the Britannia Stakes.
- Space Age won the King George V Handicap.
Day 4
- Illuminate triumphed in the Albany Stakes, followed by Ashadihan and Elegant Supermodel.
- Despite a strong start from Magic Dancer, Balios flies past the competing horses to win the King Edward VII Stakes.
- The Commonwealth Cup was won by Muhaarar.
- Ervedya won the Coronation Stakes by a nose, followed by Found and Lucida. Lucida made a late surge and may be one to watch next year.
- The Duke of Edinburgh Stakes was won by Arab Dawn.
- The Queen’s Vase was won by Ryan Moore and Aloft.
Day 5
- Bunker made a good run at the Chesham Stakes, but Berkshire was the clear winner. Ihtimal came in third place.
- The Hardwicke Stakes was won by Thomas Chippendale. The victory was short-lived and tragic, however, as the poor horse collapsed after the race from a suspected heart attack, and has since passed away. It was a moment of terrible heartbreak during Royal Ascot 2015.
- Undrafted triumphed over Brazen Beau in the Diamond Jubilee Stakes.
- The Wokingham Stakes was won by York Glory, followed by Shropshire and Dinkum Diamond.
- The Duke of Edinburgh Handicap was won by Ryan Moore on Opinion. Stencive and Ustura came in second and third place, followed by Caravan Rolls On in fourth.
- The winner of the Queen Alexandra Stakes was Chiberta King, followed by Shahwardi in second place.
It is still so hard to believe that this year’s Royal Ascot is already over. All five days featured thrilling and surprising victories by unexpected contenders—as well as more than a few favourites performing exactly as expected. For the most part, it was another amazing year—aside from the tragic death of Thomas Chippendale.
