Why Is My Betting System Failing?
Let’s say that you have adapted a certain sports betting strategy you found online for your wagering. You know that the system has the potential to deliver great results, because the system’s creator has publicly posted his results over time. The system is not perfect, but it doesn’t have to be. The system’s creator achieves wins 84% of the time. You cannot seem to get better results than 65%. Why is your system failing you, when it should work?
There are a number of possible explanations. Again, assuming this truly is a sound system, here are just some of the reasons you might consider looking into:
- You are doing it wrong. Maybe you are missing out on some subtle aspect of the betting system, like context, and you are simply applying it incorrectly. A great idea would be to post some of your betting experiences publicly, and ask for help. Someone else who uses the system may have advice. They may be able to spot the mistakes you are making.
- You lack patience. Maybe you simply have not done enough testing. Perhaps you saw five losers in a row and assumed the worst, and gave up on your test early. If you keep going, you may find that this is a rare losing streak. Lacking patience can also feed into mistakes; if you do not have the patience to spot your errors, you will never be able to improve them.
- You do not understand what you are doing. When you try to use a system you do not understand, it is far too easy to make mistakes, or try to use the system in a situation it does not apply to. Even if this is not standing in your way now, odds are it will come back to bite you again in the future.
- The system simply does not suit you. Some betting strategies simply will never pan out for certain sports bettors. This is not because they can’t work, but simply because they are not a good personality match or scheduling match. You want to find a strategy that is going to play to your strengths and help you to curb your own weaknesses. If the strategy you are using does not do that, it may not be a particularly suitable choice for you.
The two worst things you can do are continue to suffer in a vacuum, or pitch the system out the window and continue on a search for an impossible perfect system. If the system has some promise and you instinctively like it, try and troubleshoot it before you give up and try a new one, but don’t force yourself to go at it on your own. See if you can find anyone to help you. If you found the system online, chances are good that someone who uses it will be willing to help you out.
