How Can You Bet More?
In a recent post about how often should you bet, I delved into the question of whether it is more important to have a higher win percentage or to take more bets. Basically, it is up to you to do the math, but it can be beneficial to take more bets even with a lower win percentage in some cases. The specifics depend on your situation, but you may very well discover that this is the case for you too. Taking too much of a hit to your win percentage will just land you in the red.
Let’s say you do decide that you could profit more if you were able to bet more, but you do not want to compromise your win percentage too much. How can you bet more without losing control over the quality of your wagers?
- Consider betting on more sports. If you can master more than one sport, you can wager on more games throughout the year. Don’t spread yourself too thin here. You may find that great opportunities open up to you if you bet on three or four sports instead of just one or two. Only do this however if you can still maintain a strong focus on each.
- Figure out if you can become more efficient at handicapping. Part of why it is hard to juggle a lot of bets is the simple fact that you have to do so much analysis before you can place a wager. If you can speed up that process without losing your effectiveness, you can probably place more wagers.
- Can you add new types of bets to your repertoire? If you typically bet on the outcome of a match, can you also start learning how to bet on goals? You may be able to wager more and win more just following the same sport, and conducting more or less the same kind of analysis.
Always make sure before you start betting more often that you ask yourself what your motives are for doing so. Betting more in order to win more money is a perfectly logical and sound reason. But what you do not want to be doing is betting more because you are bored or impatient. That is actually a form of going on tilt through frustration, which isn’t something you want. This will just result in you losing money and getting more and more frustrated. At that point you could end up desperately taking a lot more wagers than you can possibly handle—until of course you are taking none because you have blown through all your money.
Only wager more frequently if you can do so logically and methodically, and make sure that you are seeing positive results in your account before you decide to make it into a habit. In fact, I recommend you do it on paper before you do it for real, just to be sure you are on the right track!
